"Our mission is to create maximum investment value for our client partners and to provide personal and professional growth opportunities for our associates."
Our primary guiding principle is personal and professional integrity. It is the standard by which we make our decisions and measure our actions, as well as the value that we most strive to practice in our business relationships.

As the senior director of real estate, Joe‘s role is both sourcing deals for purchase and potential buyers for hotels THG’s Funds have purchased and turned around; a competitive position made easier he notes due to “THG’s great reputation for integrity, passion and superbly run and renovated hotels.”

Joe has been involved in commercial real estate, specializing in hotels, since 1978.  He joined THG in 2003.   His expertise includes asset management, financing, hotel brokerage, development and hotel appraisal.  A former MAI, his experience includes appraising over 400 hotels, including several multi-hotel portfolios, throughout the United Sates, Costa Rica, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Thailand.  He has asset-managed 28 hotels, sold over $230m in hotels, and placed financing for over $110 million in commercial properties.

Strain earned a Bachelor of Arts from Western Washington University and held a MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute (retired).  He has been qualified as an expert witness in several Federal District and Superior courts and has served as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association.  He also holds a Washington state real estate broker’s license and is a member of the International Society of Hotel Consultants.

When he’s not involved in the “big deals” he unwinds by enjoying time with his wife and friends.  Joe also likes to travel, write, read, and listen to music.
